Renesas Announces µPD720201 and µPD720202 USB 3.0 xHCI Host Controllers

Renesas Electronics announced the availability of its two new SuperSpeed Universal Serial Bus (USB 3.0xHCI host controllers (part number,µPD720201 and µPD720202) for electronic devices such as PCs and digital TVs that feature faster effective data transfer speeds and reduced power consumption in low power mode.

The µPD720201 and µPD720202 devices make it easier for system designers to build electronic devices combining high-speed data transfer, compact size, and extended battery life.
The new host controllers add a new four-port product to the Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 product line up and deliver even faster transfer speeds, better power efficiency, and more compact size than the company’s previous versions of USB 3.0 host controllers.

“In addition to contributing to faster data transfer processing in PCs and digital consumer electronics, Renesas Electronics’ µPD720201 and µPD720202 host controllers help extend battery life by dramatically reducing the power consumption,”said Yukihiko Matsuda, Associate General Manager, Industry & Network Business Division, Renesas Electronics Corporation. “As a core member of the USB-IF, we will continue to provide robust lineups of USB 3.0 products to accelerate the adoption of USB 3.0 in compact mobile devices.”

Embedded world 2011 - impressions

The embedded world Exhibition&Conference 2011 ended on a very successful note with more records for the number of visitors and exhibitors. More than 800 international exhibitors, 10 per cent up on last year, and 19,022 trade visitors (+4%) from all over the world confirm the success of this year's event.

Vishay Intertechnology Enhances PLT Series of Precision Low-TCR Thin Film Resistors

Vishay Intertechnology enhanced PLT series of precision low-TCR thin film resistors with improved tolerances down to 0.01 %. The devices feature a low standard TCR of 5 ppm/°C over a wide temperature range of - 55 °C to + 125 °C.
With stable film and performance characteristics of 500 ppm at + 70 °C for 10,000 hours, devices in the PLT series are optimized for high-precision applications in industrial, telecommunications, medical imaging, test and measurement, and military and aerospace equipment and instrumentation.
Offered in 0603, 0805, and 1206 case sizes, the PLT series offers a resistance range from 250 ohms to 100 kilohms, with non-standard values available. The resistors features very low noise of less than - 30 dB, low voltage coefficients of 0.1 ppm/V, and power ratings from 150 mW to 400 mW at + 70 °C.
The PLT devices feature an anti-corrosion resistant film with special passivation method (SPM) enhancement. Available with lead (Pb)-free or lead terminations, the resistors are compliant with RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC, halogen-free according to IEC 61249-2-21, and flame-resistant in accordance to UL 94 V-0.
Samples and production quantities of the PLT series are available now, with lead times of eight weeks for standard orders.
